This project consist in a portable image of Ubuntu that could run in Windows as a native win32 application. You could execute Linux applications and integrate it in your Windows desktop. This system can be bringing in any removable device such as pendriv



To use Ubuntu Portable you need a working Windows system, XP or above. See the references for how to install it in 'above'. You also need about 4GB disk space for the default system, more if you follow the instructions to embiggen the virtual disk.
1.Download the installation file ' Portable_Ubuntu_DOS_release_4.exe ' which is the current release containing Ubuntu 9.04. About 500 MB.
2.Execute this file, telling it where to unpack its 4 GB (NTFS). Hint - due to hard-coded absence of " the location should not have spaces in the directory name, so not in Program Files ! It can be moved later to another disk or thumb drive.
3.Run ' pubuntu.exe ' to start Ubuntu. A toolbar will grow at the top of your screen. The full Ubuntu would have a desktop with this bar at the top. The portable version just has the bar.
4.Run programs from the Applications or System tabs just like the Start button in Windows (especially if you configure Classic, like Windows 98) with applications grouped in sub-menus based on function.
5.Ubuntu has its own file system accessed by the Places tab. You can copy to/from your real drive which, informatively, appears as ' cofs2 '.
6.Do your work, save your files, play your games.
7.Press the Stop button to ' turn off ' the virtual machine.
8.Any changes you make to the system are saved and available next time.
